Renton Western Wear is a Western clothing retailer located in Renton, WA. We have three local retail store locations and an online store - www.rentonww.com. We ship orders throughout the entire U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska.


We are continually challenged by managing our outbound & inbound freight costs that are constantly rising. As a retailer with a direct-to-consumer shipping business, we ship numerous ‘small’ packages daily. It’s a challenge to understand the total cost of our shipments and identify any potential actions we can take to create savings that will not sacrifice on-time delivery to our customer. We are then faced with the secondary challenge of managing the freight/shipping costs of bringing inventory into our facility and trying to minimize these costs by leveraging our shipping discounts and/or vendor relationships.

We needed a solution to not only execute our shipments easily and provide tracking capability, but that also provided summarized and detailed reporting features for analyzing costs, discounts, and surcharges. The Enroute ShipIt! Analytics solution has met our expectations by showing us ways to reduce our shipping spend, pointing out ways to provide a better delivery experience to our customers, and by providing us tools to better understand our shipping activity.

The Enroute Team has taken the time to understand my business challenges and then work with us on how the better use their tools to help our business and enhances their products to address our challenges. Zumiez is a mall-based specialty retailer of action sports related apparel, footwear, and equipment with more than 370 stores primarily located in shopping malls in 34 states, headquartered in Everett, WA. We cater to young men and women between the ages of 12 and 24 who want brands representing a lifestyle centered on activities that include skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding. We also have a busy web store at www.zumiez.com.


One key set of shipping challenges at Zumiez is getting the constant flow of new inventory from our single distribution center in Everett, WA to stores as fast as possible, for the best rate possible, all with a high-level of customer service – especially at the individual store level. As a trend driven business, getting products on the selling floor quickly is a high priority. We also need to be able to process these inventory shipments and website orders quickly and efficiently, especially give the volume of shipments we do. Another key challenge is having insight into our shipping costs and carrier performance to help identify ways to cut transit times and save money on our significant annual shipping expenditure.

We have been working with Enroute for a year and they are providing us valuable insight into or shipping experience via their ShipIt! Analytics product. Their system aggregates and presents shipping data that we can quickly analyze for our monthly average of 90,000 parcels sent via multiple carriers. We would never find the time to collect and organize this data, let alone analyze it, if we did it ourselves.

Enroute has taken the time to understand our needs and priorities to provide solutions, like the ShipIt! Analytics, and recommend alternatives to our current shipping methods to help us reach our shipping goals more quickly and easily.
